Building Trauma Informed Police Responses in Your Agency Training and Tools Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), presents “Building Trauma-Informed Police Responses in Your Agency: Training and Tools.” This webinar provides an overview of trauma-informed policing for officers, law enforcement agencies, and communities. Presenters describe the phenomenon of trauma, share data about traumatic exposure, and introduce online training and tools developed by IACP and Yale with support from OJJDP to help agencies build trauma-informed responses.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Integrated Care for Kids (InCK) Model Webinar

This OJJDP-hosted webinar to discusses the "Integrated Care for Kids (InCK) Model" from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center. The InCK model is designed to reduce costs and improve quality of health care for children and youth from birth to 21 years of age, who are covered by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The model offers prevention, early identification, and treatment of behavioral and physical health needs for youth, including opioid addiction.

OJJDP and the Children's Bureau partnered on a proactive prevention approach to support families and safeguard children. This video features Jerry Milner, Associate Commissioner of the Children's Bureau, and Caren Harp, Administrator of OJJDP, as they recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month and discuss how communities can come together to raise awareness about healthy parenting practices, child safety skills, available resources, and community partnerships.

OJJDP Facts in Focus: Reentry Starts Here

In this video, Dr. Sanzanna Dean, OJJDP Deputy Associate Administrator, discusses the OJJDP's toolkit Reentry Starts Here: A Guide for Youth in Long-Term Juvenile Corrections and Treatment Programs. Every year, tens of thousands of youth return to their communities from residential placement, too often with no reentry plan. The resources provided in this guide speak to common barriers that youth may experience upon reentry. The guide includes specific actions youth can take to address those barriers with the help of a caring adult. 

Financial Literacy for Teens Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the Federal Trade Commission, presented “Financial Literacy for Teens.” This webinar focused on teen financial independence. The webinar examined the importance of a credit report and discusses how to order, review, and correct them. Presenters also discuss free resources to help teens prepare to get credit and avoid pitfalls when applying for student loans, buying a car, renting an apartment, or making other financial decisions. Identity theft is a concern to foster youth and will be covered in this webinar.
