The Dallas Police Department has been a member of the federally sponsored Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force since 1998. As such, it has been the lead agency in northern Texas for investigating technology-based offenses committed against children. This project will allow the Dallas Police Department to continue its efforts to respond effectively to such crimes, to build investigative and prosecutorial capacity within other agencies, and to promote internet safety awareness for children.  Management and investigation of CyberTips and other referrals made to the Dallas Task Force each year will be the highest priority.  To promote enhanced investigative and prosecutorial efforts outside Dallas, they will renew Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with their formal affiliates in northern Texas.  Through these MOUs, they will support financially the operations of the affiliates and will work cooperatively with them to enhance the safety of children in Texas.  Progress toward these objectives will be evaluated by assessing the numbers of cases assigned to the Task Force and its affiliates, cases filed and successfully prosecuted, and number and kinds of educational outreach programs offered to the public.  Progress will also be measured through monthly and semi-annual reports as required by the Office of Justice Programs, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
