PROJECT SUMMARY 2002-MU-MU-0002 S-1

The Clackamas County Juvenile Department has developed a centralized juvenile intake and diversion center utilizing a police holding facility. The center conducts risk and needs assessments on youth charged with delinquent and status offenses. There are nine independent police jurisdictions involved in the processing of these youth. The juvenile intake/ diversion center conducts the assessments and develops release/reentry plans for youth. The center's diversion program focuses on lower risk youth and minor offenders as well as more serious front end youth. The program links the youth to over twenty five community based services and programs. The Juvenile Department has developed a restorative justice model in the community and will be implementing a VOM( Victim Offender Mediation) Program to enhance the work of the assessment center.
