World Golf Foundation proposes to conduct a large scale research study measuring the impact and effectiveness of the Life Skills experience. The First Tee program uses golf as a vehicle to implement a youth development program that targets children from ages 8 to 18 from lower socio- economic and ethnically diverse backgrounds. The life skills youth development program will instruct these children around nine core values of responsibility, sportsmanship, perseverance, confidence, judgement, honesty, respect, courtesy and integrity. The life skills certificate program will teach the children interpersonal skills, self management and resistence to unhealthy behaviors. The University of Florida and The University of Nevada-Las Vegas will be collaborating on the evaluation.
