The Squaxin Island Tribal Council will implement Tribal JADG Program Purpose Area 15. The Squaxin Island Tribal Reservation is located in Mason County, Washington State. This is a court-supervised, early intervention program that provides an alternative to prosecution and alternatives to sentencing for 75 youth ages 10-17. The program involves regular appearances before the court, family skill-building, and counseling for family members. The individuals involved are tribal court, counselors, and administrator of the probations program at Squaxin Island Tribe. The project design is Functional Family Therapy, an in-home, broad-spectrum model that moves from the highest intensity children/youth into moderate intensity. Functional Family Therapy is an outcome-driven prevention/intervention program for youth who have demonstrated the entire range of maladaptive, acting out behaviors and related syndromes. This phasic family therapy program focuses on enhancing protective factors and reducing risk. The steps are engagement, motivation, assessment, behavior change, and generalization.CA/NCF
