Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $599,453)

The purpose of this program is to continue the operation and implement an Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws Discretionary Program utilizing FY 2007 Supplemental funds. The goals and objectives are: Initiative to Reduce Underage Drinking which seeks to reduce the availability of alcoholic beverages to and the consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons who are serving in the United States Air Force (USAF) and are under the age of 21. To this end, the initiative provides funds to local communities to implement research-based and promising practices to enforce underage drinking laws and prevent consumption of alcohol by underage service personnel in collaboration with active duty installations implementing the underage component of USAF's Culture of Responsible Choices program.

Performance measures include: Meeting frequency and content will be monitored using meeting minutes and attendance logs; The Trainer of Trainers approach and use of the Media Contact Protocol will be monitored in terms of attendance, materials, scheduling, and compliance; Base participation will be monitored using sign in logs and meeting minutes from state underage drinking prevention meetings and activities; and PPP will submit regular performance reports to GOHS according to funder and cross-site evaluation requirements.
