The Des Plaines Park District project's purpose to continue operating the Teen Center as a supervised safe and drug-free environment, at no cost to teen participants. Through the teen center, the grantee will continue to provide teens with afterschool recreational opportunities, computer and internet access, and positive adult leadership and supervision. Through this program the grantee will improve their ability to provide homework assistance, increased computer and internet access, and improve the positive emotional and social behaviors by establishing adult-teen relationships through the addition of a mentoring program. The program offerings are designed to address community teen needs around gang activity, substance use, delinquent behavior, lack of adult supervision and poverty. NCA/NCF
