Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $427,205)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act.

The Delaware Criminal Justice Council will utilize FY20 Title II formula grant funds to enhance the state's juvenile justice system and services available statewide so that juveniles involved in the system and juveniles at-risk of involvement are provided with early delinquency prevention programming, held accountable to the public, to the criminal justice system, and to themselves. The Criminal Justice Council will focus on the following programmatic areas: Protecting Juvenile Rights, Re-Entry, Alternatives to Arrest and Delinquency Prevention and continue to maintain compliance tasks to meet the requirements of the JJDP Act.
