Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $1,076,680)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute's Three Year Juvenile Justice Plan encompasses both system and local needs in order to improve outcomes for at-risk and justice involved youth. These priorities align with the following OJJDP program areas: Racial and Ethnic Disparities, Juvenile Justice System Improvement, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Mentoring, Counseling and Training, Mental Health Services, Compliance Monitoring, Rural Area Programs, Gender Specific Services, Diversion, State Advisory Group Allocation, and Planning and Administration.
