This issue's Message From the Administrator discusses the vital role mentoring can play in ensuring a brighter future for our nation's youth: Students who meet regularly with their mentors are 52 percent less likely than their peers to skip a day of school, 46 percent less likely to start using illegal drugs, and 55 percent more likely to enroll in college.

In this September/October 2019 video message, Administrator Caren Harp reflects on the 45th anniversary of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act and its impact on juvenile justice. Signed into law on September 7, 1974, the JJDP Act established OJJDP to support local and state efforts to prevent delinquency and improve the juvenile justice system.

OJJDP FY 19 Second Chance Act: Needs of Incarcerated Parents and Their Children Webinar

This program will promote and expand services in detention and correctional facilities to incarcerated individuals and their minor children younger than age 18, and provide services to children of incarcerated parents by facilitating access to services that support their needs. This webinar reviews the application process and provide a general overview of the grant solicitation "Second Chance Act Addressing the Needs of Incarcerated Parents and Their Minor Children."

Spotlight on Family Engagement in Youth Reentry Webinar

Building Trauma Informed Police Responses in Your Agency Training and Tools Webinar

OJJDP, in collaboration with the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), presents “Building Trauma-Informed Police Responses in Your Agency: Training and Tools.” This webinar provides an overview of trauma-informed policing for officers, law enforcement agencies, and communities. Presenters describe the phenomenon of trauma, share data about traumatic exposure, and introduce online training and tools developed by IACP and Yale with support from OJJDP to help agencies build trauma-informed responses.

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Integrated Care for Kids (InCK) Model Webinar

June 2019

This OJJDP-hosted webinar to discusses the "Integrated Care for Kids (InCK) Model" from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center. The InCK model is designed to reduce costs and improve quality of health care for children and youth from birth to 21 years of age, who are covered by Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The model offers prevention, early identification, and treatment of behavioral and physical health needs for youth, including opioid addiction.
