The Washington County Juvenile Drug Treatment Court (WCJDTC) is a collaborative partnership between the Circuit Court, District Attorney, Defense Attorney, Program Coordinator, Juvenile Department, culturally-specific community providers, community treatment providers, and peer support.  The proposed enhancement will allow the program the opportunity to accomplish the following objectives: 1) expand the capacity of the program to screen 60 and serve 35 youth per year; 2) ensure staffing levels are maintained to accommodate increased capacity; 3) improve services to underserved populations within the program with a focus on racial equity; 4) conduct thorough program evaluation and increase the capacity and sustainability of evaluation methods; and 5) develop a Youth Advisory Board to serve as advisors on initiatives including the WCJDTC program. The proposed enhancements will better serve youth with substance issues and increase the number of youth served, prevent youth from further penetrating the juvenile justice system, and address youth substance use in the local community.
