The Superior Court of the District of Columbia's Family Treatment Court (FTC) in 2003 is a partnership between the Court, the D.C. Child and Family Services Agency, the Department of Behavioral Health, the Office of the Attorney General and several community-based organizations. The FTC provides treatment and accountability services for parents whose substance abuse issues impact their ability to effectively care for and ensure the safety of their children. The goals of the proposed grant-funded program are to increase the well-being of, improve permanency outcomes for, and enhance the safety of children who are in an out-of-home placement or at risk of being placed in an out-of-home placement as a result of a parental substance abuse.
