The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) proposes to implement Lowcountry Rising Above Violence, which is a hospital-based community violence prevention and intervention program serving the greater Charleston and North Charleston areas that provides wrap-around services to high-risk youth, victims of violence and their families identified in hospital and pediatric community-based healthcare settings. The program has the following goals:

Reduction of risk factors for violence and improvement of protective factors for youth at high risk of community violence.
Reduction of risk factors for violence, reduction of violence recidivism and improvement of protective factors for youth that experience injuries from community violence.

These  reductions will be achieved through comprehensive and intensive wraparound services to victims of community violence and high-risk youth utilizing an evidence informed hospital violence intervention program (HVIP) model.
