Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $670,000)

The Yurok Health and Human Services (YHHS) will expand their Joint Jurisdiction Family Wellness Court (JJFWC), launched March 22, 2019. The JJFWC is best suited for their most vulnerable, high-risk families, with open child welfare cases. The program will use a coordinated team approach with comprehensive and culturally competent services. Participants of the JJFWC will have frequent team meetings and court hearings. The program will set up and recruit two new positions to support the JJFWC. They will only work with Yurok families and learn how to focus on the families’ individual needs more effectively. The goal is to provide parents culturally appropriate treatment and recovery and keep families together.
