Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $750,000)

Rankin County Juvenile Treatment Court program will enhance its existing Juvenile Treatment Court program by providing a multisystem approach of judicial oversight,
mandatory drug testing, substance use or co-occurring disorder (COD) treatment, and prosocial family engagement activities. The goals of the project are to (1) hire new staff to expand existing assessment, intervention and treatment services for participants, identification and validated assessments of potential participants for intake into the program as well as provide resource linkage for potential participants who are not eligible for the program but who nonetheless need services; (2) provide training related to best practices and evidence-based programs beneficial to the JDTC Program; (3) facilitate evidence-based life skill classes for participants and evidence-informed parenting classes for parents, caregivers, and families to support prosocial family engagement activities; (4) expand access to evidence-based substance use and/or COD treatment for participants; (5) hire a Drug Testing Manager to oversee mandatory drug testing and laboratory; and (6) monitor and evaluate the family treatment court program for fidelity and accountability.
