Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $480,000)

This grant funding will enable Tribal Court to establish mental health evaluation and counseling for families in partnership with Social Services, Behavioral Health, and Law Enforcement. The Tribe plans to utilize a holistic approach to provide alternatives of incarceration and find the solution to healing and by offering access to treatment of substance use disorders and recovery services that will result in protecting children and reunification of families if safe to do so. Tribal court plans to develop a multidisciplinary team that will assist in creating a new Family Treatment Court, create partnerships with other tribal treatment centers for inpatient care, provide screenings and assessments of participants to make sure their treatment will be designed with keeping the whole person in mind with a variety of therapy options to create a unique care program. The Family Treatment Court will provide culturally based wellness training for parents, children, and their families.
