The Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO) Stand Against Violence East Harlem (SAVE) team provides violence prevention and mediation services and supports victims of violence in Harlem Hospital leading to safer streets and more readily available supportive services and clinical support for residents of East Harlem and neighboring communities. By providing therapeutic services and other supports, including education and employment programming that keeps participants focused and engaged, GOSO helps its participants achieve self-sufficiency, becoming contributing members of their community, its economy, and thriving culture. Under the proposed program, GOSO SAVE will engage hundreds of community members in therapeutic programming, which will help to promote and sustain a culture of nonviolence in the East Harlem community.
