Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $480,656)

The goal of the Delaware Juvenile Justice Advisory Group (JJAG) is to find the most innovative and effective solutions to achieve effective, accountable juvenile services. Research in juvenile delinquency demonstrates that effective services take into consideration interconnecting risk mechanisms of family organization, parental supervision, peer relationships, community support, substance abuse, school participation and history of violence and weapons use.

Delaware's Title II Formula Block Grant Plan will enhance the state's juvenile justice system and services available statewide so that juveniles involved in the system and juveniles at-risk of involvement are provided with early delinquency prevention programming, held accountable to the public, to the criminal justice system and to themselves. With the cooperative leadership among the member agencies, plus the ingenuity of the Criminal Justice Council (CJC), the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group (JJAG) will select programs representing the JJAG Three Year Plan programs areas of interest: Mental Health Services, Alternatives to Arrest and Delinquency Prevention. The Plan will also include on-going compliance tasks to meet the JJDP Act Core Requirements. Such Goals and Objectives will be measured through monitoring, committee updates, performance reporting from sub-grantees as well as CJC staff and on-going collaboration between the law enforcement agencies and juvenile justice service providers.
