Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2000, $62,841)
Chittenden East Supervisory Union is the fiscal agent for the Chittenden East Community Partnership. The coalition serves the rural communities within Chittenden County, VT, with a combined population of approximately 14,946. To achieve the two goals of reducing substance abuse among youth and of strengthening community anti-drug coalitions, this coalition will implement the following strategies:
1) strengthen its structure by the addition of town organizers who can ensure a sustainable volunteer base;
2) bring communities together for enjoyment and community building through the organization of events;
3) identify individuals who have an awareness of the school climate and the prevention initiatives that are already in place;
4)increase teen involvement in prevention initiatives and leadership training; and
5) increase collaboration with existing and new community, business, police, faith- based, and government partners.CA/NCF
