Project Summary for 2001-DR-FX-0002

The Regents of New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service (NMSU CES), will develop their 4-H program in Bernalillo and Taos counties. Staff will be added to both sites to provide additional support and collaboration with existing youth leaders. Currently, these programs are not able to expand due to budget shortfalls and increasing youth numbers. Programming will be developed that meets the needs and interests of at-risk youth. To date, many of the at-risk youth "fall through the cracks" for 4-H programming due to Cooperative Extension being understaffed. The new positions will build on past 4-H program efforts and reach out to new youth audiences and additional adult volunteers.
