The Montachusett Opportunity Council will implement an alternative education program for suspended middle and high school students in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The goal of the program is to improve academic skills, improve self esteem and increase student support. The program will address inadequate school performance, susceptibility to high risk behavior, unproductive parental involvement, early justice system involvement and high prevalence of despondency and vulnerability. Montachusetts Opportunity Council will achieve its goal by providing parenting skill training; strength based case management services, and academic and life skills workshops. The Montachusetts Opportunity Council will report performance measures that include improved grades and test scores, reduced disciplinary incidents and compliance with individual and family service plans.NCA/NCF
