The Association for the Study and Development of Community (ASDC) proposes to continue its support for the Safe Start National Evaluation, through the development of a National Evaluation Team (NET) consisting of ASDC staff and consultants to help plan, guide, and implement the evaluation of the 11 Safe Start sites. The overarching goal of this proposed evaluation is to work with the local evaluators to generate evaluation knowledge that can be use to inform the practice and scientific community on how to reduce the impact of exposure to violence in young children. This goal will be achieved by building capacity at the local Safe Start sites for accurate and complete measurement of program activities and by developing means for dissemination the knowledge gained to the larger scientific and practitioner communities. Included in this proposal are descriptions of both evaluation and training and technical assistance activities. Final products will include a report on the process local sites used to implement their safe start initiative and a final report that will contain the cross case study analysis for the 11 sites integrated according to the Safe Start National Initiative Logic Model. Additional reports will include publishable articles and conference presentations.
