Know the Truth is a drug prevention program for high schools and junior high schools which are administered in classrooms settings by teenagers and young adults who have successfully overcome their drug and alcohol addictions. This educational program focuses on educating teenagers on the dangers of substance abuse and training them in realistic refusal strategies with the goal of preventing teenage drug and alcohol use and creating responsible youth who are committed to living chemical-free lives. This program supports and augments the drug prevention efforts of local schools in order to increase teenage awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol use and decrease teenage drug and alcohol use. Specifically, this program aims to reach the following goals with individuals that participate in this program: decrease the total number of teenagers currently using drugs and alcohol; increase the total number of teenagers choosing to abstain from all drug and alcohol use; and increase the total number of teenagers seeking counseling/treatment services for their chemical addictions.
