Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $44,717)

Albany Teen Challenge Outreach seeks to increase education and awareness in a two-fold approach: 1)Prevention services through Rock the Block Urban Outreach (RTB), Hoop Challenge Basketball Camp, 2 Super Saturday Freedom Kids' and 52 Friday night coffee house outreaches, and 2) Intervention services based on counseling, community care, support group services and crisis intervention.

The Outreach seeks to serve at least 3,000 individuals over a one-year period. Progress will be measured by the number of youth participating in events, those that return, and the number of those responding to a desire to change invitation. Funding will be applied implementing the Long Island Teen Challenge 'Rock the Block,' 'Super Saturday Freedom Kids,' and 'Hoop Challenge' as well as Friday Night Outreach drug prevention programs. Programs will be tailored to the Albany area and to those operated by Long Island Teen Challenge.
