Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $536,609)
The purpose of this project is to provide intervention and prevention services to youth, ages 5-19, designed to reduce the risk factors of violence; to strengthen family communication (protective factor); to mobilize community support for children; to break the cycle of family violence; and to reduce the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder in young rape and sexual assault victims. Primary activities include 24/7 Helpline counseling, weekly support groups, weekly art therapy/counseling sessions, and ongoing crisis intervention services at the local courts and police stations.
