OJJDP FY 2009 Title V Community Prevention Grants Program

This program intends to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.

West Virginia will support a continuation project with FY 2009 Title V funds. In awarding Title V projects, the State Advisory Group gives priority to those applicants that demonstrate the ability to develop a data driven prevention plans and employ evidence-based strategies. State staff assist localities in identifying and utilizing evidence based strategies and applicants are encouraged to review OJJDP's Model Programs Guide and Database.
