FY 2014 PREA Reallocation Funds

Using OJJDP funds, Washington will enhance their Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Administrator's overall knowledge by completing the Department of Justice's (DOJ) auditor training to be held in November 2014. The PREA Administrator will use this level of understanding to reassess current approaches to implementation, provide technical assistance to facility compliance managers and county detention facilities, create auditing tools to monitor contractors, and initiate internal audits to measure progress. In addition, funds will allow for contracting with a specialized population expert to address LGBTQ issues. The contractor will review our LGBTQI policies and procedures, develop a best-practices curriculum, and provide training to key facility staff.
