Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $1,450,000)

This program will support state efforts to develop juvenile justice improvement strategic plans and provide training and technical assistance (TTA). OJJDP will support a TTA provider to assist selected states that have completed a juvenile justice systemwide improvement strategic plan and/or have recently enacted policy changes intended to improve the state’s juvenile justice system and are seeking TTA that focuses on implementing juvenile justice system improvements to enhance public safety, hold youth appropriately accountable, reduce reoffending, maximize cost savings, and support strategic reinvestment of the savings while supporting systemwide change. Community Resources for Justice (CRJ) will provide TTA to selected states on conducting data analysis, utilizing appropriate risk assessment tools, identifying out-of-home populations, and assisting states in improving their allocation of resources after the implementation of legislation. CRJ will also support implementation by helping the states develop sustainability plans and build in-state capacity. CA/NCF
