Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $400,000)

The Drug Treatment Courts Program builds the capacity of states, state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized tribal governments to enhance pre-existing drug courts or implement new drug courts for individuals with substance abuse problems or co-occurring mental health disorders. Category 1: Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts (JDTCs) will support existing JDTCs to develop and implement strategies to enhance their programs based on the OJJDP JDTC Guidelines.

The Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, Juvenile Division’s goal is to decrease the number of youth with substance use disorders by aligning with the OJJDP JDTC Guidelines. To achieve this goal, the court will serve and provide evidence-based treatment to 60 youth per year; increase the continuum of evidence-based, family-centered treatment options; increase participant involvement in prosocial activities; and engage community partners in the youth’s recovery process.
