Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $770,806)

The Formula Grants Program is authorized under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act. The purpose of this program is to support state and local delinquency prevention and intervention efforts and juvenile justice system improvements. Supported activities and efforts may include planning and administration, establishing, operating, coordinating, and evaluating projects directly or through grants and contracts with public and private agencies for the development of more effective education, training, research, prevention, diversion, treatment, and rehabilitation programs in the area of juvenile delinquency and programs to improve the juvenile justice system as found in section 221 of the JJDP Act. The Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement will address the following program areas: Diversion Programs, Schools Programs, Juvenile Justice System Improvement, Disproportionate Minority Contact, Compliance Monitoring, Planning and Administration, State Advisory Group, Mental Health Services, Substance and Alcohol Abuse, Rural Area Juvenile Programs, and Indian Tribe Programs.
