Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2020, $500,000)

The Juvenile Justice System Enhancements program will support efforts to enhance systems that address public safety by holding offenders accountable and supporting child victims. This includes the juvenile justice system as well as those agencies responsible for investigating and prosecuting online child exploitation.

The goal of the Juvenile Transition Program (JTP) is to enhance the juvenile justice system in St. Louis County by expanding access to employment programming for youth on community supervision to prevent detention, reduce recidivism, and increase job-readiness skills. Referred youth will receive career readiness training, assignment to a case manager, and an 8-week paid internship with a local business. The program will also support youth ages 16 and 17, who will receive career counseling, case management, individual or group counseling, volunteer work experience, and job placement with local businesses. The service area for this project is St. Louis County, an urban region with a population of approximately one million. CA/NCF
