OJJDP Observes National Youth Justice Action Month

October is Youth Justice Action Month (YJAM), an annual observance to raise awareness about the importance of supporting young people impacted by the justice system. OJJDP is cohosting YJAM 2023 with the Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ) and the National Juvenile Justice Network.

This year’s YJAM theme is “Justice Is____.” This theme highlights the opportunity for system-involved youth, their families, and youth justice stakeholders to imagine new possibilities for systems of support, equity, healing, and restorative justice.

OJJDP encourages stakeholders to support justice system-involved youth by participating in virtual and in-person YJAM events throughout October.

On October 3, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET, OJJDP and its partners will host the "2023 Youth Justice Action Month Kickoff Webinar." During the webinar, OJJDP Administrator Liz Ryan and presenters will highlight YJAM, discuss the recently released YJAM toolkit, and provide an overview of CJJ’s Emerging Leaders Committee 2023 Youth Summit.
