The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 1974 (as Amended Through P.L. 115-385, enacted December 21, 2018) provides that the purpose of the Formula Grants Program is to assist state and local governments in addressing offending by youth through technical assistance, research, training, evaluation, and effective programs for preventing juvenile delinquency and improving juvenile justice systems.
