OJJDP FY 2020 Reducing Risk for Girls in the Juvenile Justice System

This program supports prevention and early intervention strategies for girls who are involved in the juvenile justice system.   

Applications submitted by nongovernment organizations should consider the importance of an established partnership (via a memorandum of understanding or analogous document) with public juvenile justice agencies at the local or state level. This will ensure close collaboration around referrals for those girls involved in the juvenile justice system and eligible for services provided by the proposed project.

Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts allow for intensive judicial supervision of youth and the provision of treatment to eligible, drug-involved juvenile offenders with the goal of reducing recidivism and substance abuse. The purpose of this solicitation is to implement new JDTCs and provide support to existing JDTCs to enhance treatment services. Applicants are expected to develop and implement a sustainability plan during the grant period to continue operation of the juvenile drug treatment court when the grant ends.

This program supports the implementation and delivery of mentoring services to youth populations that are at risk for juvenile delinquency, victimization, and juvenile justice system involvement. Mentoring services can be one-on-one, group, peer, or a combination of these types. Applicants in all categories must initiate mentoring services to youth who are 17 years old or younger at the time of admission to the program. Funding can be used to support new mentoring matches or continue existing mentoring matches at the time of application.

OJJDP FY 2020 Missing and Exploited Children Training and Technical Assistance Program

Through this program, OJJDP seeks to improve and expand the development and implementation of training and technical assistance on effective responses to missing and exploited children's issues for multidisciplinary teams of prosecutors, state and local law enforcement, child protection personnel, medical providers, and other child-serving professionals. Additionally, this program will provide support for the implementation of all National Missing Children's Day activities.

OJJDP will award a cooperative agreement to continue the activities of the National Gang Center (NGC), which provides training and technical assistance to OJP-funded programs and communities across the country to address the issues of youth gun and gang violence. NGC tracks current research and trends on gangs and maintains a database of comprehensive information on the development and implementation of effective gang prevention, intervention, and suppression strategies.
