This program supports prevention and early intervention strategies for girls who are involved in the juvenile justice system.   

Applications submitted by nongovernment organizations should consider the importance of an established partnership (via a memorandum of understanding or analogous document) with public juvenile justice agencies at the local or state level. This will ensure close collaboration around referrals for those girls involved in the juvenile justice system and eligible for services provided by the proposed project.

OJJDP expects applicants for funding under this solicitation to develop program activities based on the core strategies of the Comprehensive Gang Model as outlined in this solicitation.

The goal of this program is to prevent/reduce victimization of girls who are vulnerable to sex trafficking.

The Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program (JJMHCP) supports proposals to develop and implement a cross-system collaborative approach to improve responses and outcomes for youth with mental illness (MI) and co-occurring MI and substance abuse (CMISA) who come into contact with the juvenile justice system.

The Second Chance Act Youth Offender Reentry Program encourages collaboration between state agencies, local government, and community- and faith-based organizations to address the challenges that reentry and recidivism reduction pose for moderate to high-risk juvenile offenders returning to their communities from juvenile residential or correctional facilities.

Funding under this program can be used to develop support services for children exposed to violence in their homes, schools, and communities; and to develop, enhance, and implement violent crime reduction strategies that focus on violent juvenile offenders. This program development and resource allocation decision by interested applicants should be based on currently available resources to the jurisdiction and gaps in services.

The Juvenile Justice System Enhancements program will support efforts to enhance systems that address public safety by holding offenders accountable and supporting child victims. This includes the juvenile justice system as well as those agencies responsible for investigating and prosecuting online child exploitation.

The Reducing the Use of Isolation in Juvenile Facilities program will provide funding to support states, territories, units of local government, and federally recognized Tribes to implement strategies to safely reduce the use of isolation in juvenile facilities.

This program will provide grants to eligible states or federally recognized Tribes to implement evidence-based strategies to address the unmet needs of at-risk or delinquent youth through a continuum of delinquency prevention programs for juveniles who have had or who are likely to have contact with the juvenile justice system.

This program will support the efforts of states, communities, Tribal jurisdictions, nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations and institutions of higher education to implement programs and strategies that identify, respond to, treat, and support children, youth, and families impacted by the opioid epidemic.

This solicitation provides funding to develop intervention and supervision services for adolescent sex offenders and children with sexual behavior problems, and to provide treatment services for their victims and families/caregivers.

Juvenile Drug Treatment Courts allow for intensive judicial supervision of youth and the provision of treatment to eligible, drug-involved juvenile offenders with the goal of reducing recidivism and substance abuse. The purpose of this solicitation is to implement new JDTCs and provide support to existing JDTCs to enhance treatment services. Applicants are expected to develop and implement a sustainability plan during the grant period to continue operation of the juvenile drug treatment court when the grant ends.

OJJDP seeks a training and technical assistance provider to establish a regional network of partnerships to develop strategies to address Alaska Native youth's cultural needs and support their successful functioning at home, in school, and in the community in order to build the capacity of Tribal communities across Alaska to address the specific needs and challenges of those who work with Alaska Native youth.

This program supports the implementation and delivery of mentoring services to youth populations that are at risk for juvenile delinquency, victimization, and juvenile justice system involvement. Mentoring services can be one-on-one, group, peer, or a combination of these types. Applicants in all categories must initiate mentoring services to youth who are 17 years old or younger at the time of admission to the program. Funding can be used to support new mentoring matches or continue existing mentoring matches at the time of application.

This solicitation seeks to support the capacity of Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces to conduct effective and efficient forensic examination of evidence in cases of technology-facilitated child exploitation.

The goal of this program is to design, develop, and implement training and technical assistance to support the AMBER Alert network.

This solicitation provides funding to address the needs of child victims and their families in Alaska through a multidisciplinary team response to child abuse cases.

This program seeks to build the capacity of state and local courts, units of local government, and federally recognized Tribal governments to enhance existing family drug courts or implement statewide or countywide family drug court practices.

This solicitation provides funding to support training and technical assistance (TTA) services to develop, improve, or expand Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) and multidisciplinary team responses to child abuse cases in American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities.

This solicitation seeks to expand Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) by providing funding for satellite CACs to address the needs of child victims and their families in Tribal communities.

Through this program, OJJDP seeks to improve and expand the development and implementation of training and technical assistance on effective responses to missing and exploited children's issues for multidisciplinary teams of prosecutors, state and local law enforcement, child protection personnel, medical providers, and other child-serving professionals. Additionally, this program will provide support for the implementation of all National Missing Children's Day activities.

OJJDP will award a cooperative agreement to continue the activities of the National Gang Center (NGC), which provides training and technical assistance to OJP-funded programs and communities across the country to address the issues of youth gun and gang violence. NGC tracks current research and trends on gangs and maintains a database of comprehensive information on the development and implementation of effective gang prevention, intervention, and suppression strategies. The successful applicant will provide program support to OJJDP; the ICAC task forces; ICAC National Training Program providers; and other federal, state, and local law enforcement officials partnering with the ICAC task force program.

The Enhancing Juvenile Indigent Defense program will support states and localities in developing and implementing strategies to improve juvenile indigent defense. The goal of this program is to implement enhancements that improve juvenile indigent defense. Program objectives are to ensure that youth involved with the juvenile justice system have access to legal representation and access to resources that address the collateral consequences of justice system involvement.

Through this program, OJJDP will provide funding for the development and implementation of training and technical assistance for the purpose of promoting the effective delivery of the evidence-informed Children’s Advocacy Model and the multidisciplinary response to child abuse for child abuse professionals.
